Rajasthan.
Where I realized I had a problem no one had solved.
I had been traveling for eight months by then.
I’d met so many people, but only a few had become real friends.
And I was tired, tired of meeting new people, tired of repeating the same small talk:
“Where are you from? Where have you been? Where are you going?”
I felt like a broken record.
What I really wanted was to see familiar faces.
But there, in a remote city, I didn’t know anyone.
Or so I thought.
Months later, while catching up with my friend Tomás, I found out we had been in the same city, at the same time.
If only I had known!
It would have been amazing to share a meal or catch up with someone who already knew me, instead of spending my time alone in the city.
That day stuck with me.
Because it wasn’t just about missing one friend, it was about how hard it is to stay connected with people who travel, move around, or live far away.
It’s been nine years since that trip, and somehow… no one has solved this problem.
So I guess I’ll have to.
I’m working on an app to make it easier to know when friends are nearby, or what their travel plans are, so we can actually meet when life overlaps.
If you travel often or have friends all over the world, I’d love your input.
It’s a quick 2-minute survey to help validate the idea:
